Find out how to stand in the election to be the next young mayor of Lewisham.

How to run for young mayor

Would you like to be the next young mayor and make your mark on the borough?

If so, download a candidate pack now, which explains what you need to do to register your interest with us by 5pm on Friday 25 November 2022.

After you register your interest, you'll need to attend in person to the following training dates at the Civic Suite in Catford SE5 4RU.

- First candidate training Saturday 3 December 2022 from 10am–4pm  
- Second candidate training on Saturday 7 January 2023 from 10am-4pm

Eligibility criteria

To run for young mayor you must:

Be aged between 13–17 years old on Wednesday 8 February 2023 and either:

  • Live in the borough of Lewisham
  • Go to school or college in the borough of Lewisham.


When is the election?

The election day takes place on Wednesday 8 February 2023.

Vote count and Results Announcement on Thursday 9 February 2023.
