Supporting refugees

We are working with a range of partner organisations including central government, voluntary groups and the local community to welcome and support vulnerable refugee families to Lewisham. So far 23 families have resettled in Lewisham and we are preparing to welcome our next arrivals as part of our hundred families programme.

How the community is supporting refugees

We have an active and engaged voluntary and community sector willing to support the integration of refugee families who have resettled in the borough. Offers of support and donations from the local community are coordinated by us, our provider the Refugee Council and community group Lewisham Refugee Welcome to best meet the needs of the families.

Our plans to become a Borough of Sanctuary

Our borough has a proud history of supporting refugees and migrants. We are strengthened by our diversity and the values we hold which enable and empower it.
