Remembrance Sunday 2024

Remembrance Sunday Civic Service and parade at Lewisham War Memorial

Lewisham’s civic service and parade is taking place at Lewisham War Memorial, Lewisham High Street (directly opposite Lewisham Hospital).

The service is going to be held at Lewisham War Memorial on Lewisham High Street led by Reverend Peter Organ, Padre 1921 Air Cadets Lewisham, with participation from council members and faith leaders from across the borough. There will also be a military parade from local armed services units at the start of it.

Guests are advised to arrive at the Owen Centre, Lewisham Hospital at 10am to gather prior to the civic procession, led by Deputy Lieutenant Sir Steve Bullock. 

A Civic Process will be led by Sir Steve Bullock Deputy Lieutenant at 10.45am from the Owen Centre to join with the St Mary’s Congregation on Lewisham High Street and make their way to the War Memorial. 

There will be a two-minute silence at 11am during the service.

The Service will end at 11.40pm. 

Remembrance Sunday Civic Service at Deptford War Memorial

The service is going to be held at Deptford War Memorial on Lewisham Way led by Rev. Chris Hanning of St John’s Church, with participation from council members, local faith leaders, and Deputy Lieutenant Kate Heaps.

Guests are advised to arrive at the Principalship Office in Lewisham College for refreshments and signing of wreaths. They are to head to Deptford War Memorial on Lewisham Way for 10.45am.

There will be a two-minute silence at 11am during the service.

The Service will end at 11.40pm.

Hither Green crematorium chapel will be open for candle lighting and reflection on Sunday 10 November 2024 between 10am and 3pm.
