Peer support and wellbeing

This resource is exclusive to Lewisham Council staff.

If you need some extra support at this time, contact our peer support service. You will be confidentially put in touch with a mental health first aider who has been trained to deliver this kind of support. If necessary, they will be put you in contact with more specialist support.

Employee Assistance Programme

This resource is exclusive to Lewisham Council staff.

All staff members have access to our employee assistance programme, PAM Assist. This is a confidential service available 24/7.

Able Futures

  • you don’t need a mental health diagnosis to contact Able Futures and the service is also open to family members and friends aged 16+, in work and experiencing issues affecting their mental health
  • it’s a completely confidential service and Able Futures won’t inform employers, colleagues, family, or friends that you have accessed the service. To contact them call 0800 321 3137 or sign-up online

Free help guide to improve your mental health and money situation 

Mind

Mind is a registered charity providing advice and support to empower anyone experiencing a mental health problem. They campaign to improve services, raise awareness and promote understanding.

Samaritans

Samaritans is a registered charity aimed at providing emotional support to anyone in emotional distress, struggling to cope, or at risk of suicide throughout the United Kingdom and Ireland. Support is available 24/7.

Shout

Shout is an affiliate of Crisis Text Line® in the UK that provides free, confidential support, 24/7 via text. It’s the first free 24/7 texting service in the UK for anyone in crisis anytime, anywhere via the medium people already use and trust.

Cruse

Cruse is a registered charity offering free care and bereavement counselling to people suffering from grief. Cruse offers telephone, email and website support.

  • phone the bereavement helpline on 0844 477 9400. The helpline is open Monday-Friday 9.30-5pm (excluding bank holidays), with extended hours until 8pm on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings

The National Domestic Abuse Helpline

The National Domestic Abuse Helpline is run by Refuge, a charity which supports women, children & men experiencing domestic violence with a range of services.

Alcoholics Anonymous

Alcoholics Anonymous is a charity providing support to anyone who has a desire to stop drinking. The helpline, chat function and AA meetings are managed by alcoholics in recovery. The services they offer are free and confidential.

E-learning programmes

This resource is exclusive to Lewisham Council staff.

Council staff and Council care workers can use our e-learning service using your Lewisham Council email address. It provides free access to a wide range of relevant and easy-to-use courses, including personal resilience and agile training. You can log-in directly on the Learning Academy. Employability skills e-learning link for all staff

This resource is exclusive to Lewisham Council staff.

This e-learning course is aimed at those wanting to improve their employment prospects in their chosen field, or apply for their next job, as they progress along the career ladder. It aims to support the development of a variety of skills needed in job search such as CV writing, completing application forms and interview skills.

Leading change e-learning link for managers

This resource is exclusive to Lewisham Council staff.

This suite of e-learning explores typical human reactions to change and aims to help managers consider the impact of change for themselves and their team. It will also enable managers to prepare their team members for change and support them through the change process.
