Resident parking permits
Residents living in a controlled parking zone (CPZ) can apply for a resident parking permit for vehicles registered to their address. The permit entitles you to park in any resident bay in your controlled parking zone.
Application process
Verification checks will be carried out on the information provided when applying for a parking permit. All parking permits are now 'paperless' - your details will be registered electronically, and parking attendants will use an electronic reader to confirm which vehicles have a valid parking permit.
Cost of a resident permit
As detailed in the new parking policy, the price of a resident permit varies depending on your vehicle.
As part of our work to reduce air pollution and carbon emission, we use a system of emissions-based parking charges. This means that the price of a resident parking permit is determined by the vehicle's emissions.
You can use our permit calculator tool to find out which band your vehicle is in and calculate the cost of a permit. Parking permit prices changed from 1 April 2024.
Residents with more than one vehicle
You can put up to two vehicles on your permit at no extra charge. Only one vehicle will be covered by the parking permit at any one time and this must be activated via your online permit account. Failure to do so may result in your vehicle receiving a penalty charge notice (PCN). The price of your permit will based on the vehicle with the highest emissions.
Registering a new vehicle
If you need to register a new vehicle, you can update your vehicle details through your parking permit account.
Disabled residents
Resident Blue Badge holders who drive a vehicle registered to their home address in Lewisham can apply for a disabled resident parking permit free of charge. Disabled residents parking permits are free and valid for 12 months. They allow the resident with a valid Lewisham-issued blue badge to park in resident, dual and triple-use bays within any CPZ across the borough.
You can apply for a disabled resident parking permit or find out more about the Blue Badge.
Residents of new developments
Permits may not be available for residents of new developments in line with the Council's Core Strategy Policy 14.
Restrictions on controlled parking zone permits apply to some new developments. Please check your title deeds or with your landlord for any restrictions on parking, before submitting a permit application.
Visitor permits
If you live in a Controlled Parking Zone (CPZ), you will need to purchase visitor permits. If your household has one or more annual resident parking permits (including disabled residents' permits) you'll automatically be provided with 10 hours of free visitor parking credit. Residents in CPZs who are over 60, receive Council Tax support and do not have another annual parking permit will also receive 10 hours of free visitors parking credit.
Visitor vouchers can be purchased by residents without owning a parking permit, but we may still require proof of address to verify your details.
Visitor vouchers can be booked 28 days in advance.
Permits for company cars
If you have a company car and live within a controlled parking zone, you are entitled to apply for a resident parking permit for the company vehicle.
