Somerset Gardens conservation area

Information about Somerset Gardens conservation area.

Somerset Gardens is a small, secluded cul-de-sac of houses.

They date back to the mid-19th century and are grouped around a privately-owned oval green. On the south side of the green, the houses are detached with classically restrained facades. On the north side they are terraced, with gables and decorative iron balustrades on the inset balconies.

Somerset Gardens was designated a conservation area in 1972 and the green is protected by the London Squares Preservation Act. The houses numbered 4–11 and 14–18 are listed buildings.
