Beckenham Place Park conservation area
Planning services have introduced new charges for withdrawing planning applications that have not been validated. These charges are to recover administrative costs. The charge for Non-Major applications is £41.67 (£50 including VAT) and for Major applications, it is £125 (£150 including VAT).
The conservation area focuses on the Grade II* listed Beckenham Place mansion and associated parkland.
The 18th century mansion was built for the Cator family and the grounds were laid out to emphasise the grandeur and status of the house and its occupants.
When designated a conservation area, this part of the park was within the borough of Bromley and included some Victorian houses to the south - hence the somewhat arbitrary boundary which cuts across the park and includes the mansion but not the homestead.
