Resident engagement strategy consultation

We are consulting our tenants and leaseholders on how they would like to engage with Lewisham Council Housing Services.

We’re keen to hear from you about what more we could do for your community and how we can communicate more effectively.
Complete the online survey. The consultation runs from 
7 May to 29 July 2024.

We are working with a panel of residents who are helping us design the consultation and approach. We will hold engagement events throughout the summer to allow us to talk to a wide range of residents. Please see below for a consultation timetable and when we anticipate the new strategy will be in place.

Consultation timeline

May-July 2024

  • Online survey (we will make paper copies available on request)
  • A variety of community events/projects will be advertised locally, including at the four estate food stores, where our team can help residents complete the survey and provide paper copies
  • Work with partners to reach residents who don’t usually engage with us
  • Door-knock in areas where survey responses are low
  • Visit independent living schemes and temporary accommodation hostels
  • Work with the resident panel to build on the information collected through the survey and provide an opportunity for two-way discussion

July-September 2024

  • Analyse and publish survey results
  • Establish the principles for the new strategy
  • Develop a set of clear principles and objectives derived from the consultation process and draft a new Resident Engagement Strategy
  • Work with the resident panel to decide on how to measure our performance against the new principles and objectives

Autumn-Winter 2024

  • Strategy complete and signed off by Lewisham Council Mayor and Cabinet
  • Publish the strategy and promote it to residents
  • Begin embedding new strategy principles into all resident engagement activities
