Community stores
We support four food aid organisations: Evelyn Community Store (Evelyn Community Centre), Feed the Hill Social Supermarket (New Cross Road), Sydenham Community Supermarket (Kelvin Grove) and Rehoboth Community Outreach Club (Hazel Grove).
They offer weekly food and other essentials to those who are struggling to make ends meet. They do this by having days where residents visit to collect food as well as offering the delivery of food packages to those who cannot make it to the sites.
All of these organisations are in desperate need of volunteers – even if you can offer just one or two hours of your time, that will be appreciated. Tasks vary but include transporting surplus food and food deliveries (a normal car/cargo bike is fine, no van required if you don’t have one), sorting out surplus food deliveries on-site and helping members shop on shopping days.

Evelyn Community Store
Evelyn Community Store is now open on Tuesday from 5pm-7pm.
The shop is run by residents, for residents. We are currently at capacity for volunteers but can add you to a waiting list. The Community Store will be open on Tuesdays but will look to open up on other days once we have some more volunteers so we’d love to hear your availability.
Based in the Evelyn Community Centre, 1 Kingfisher Square, SE8 5TW, it offers low cost, healthy groceries on your doorstep. Become a member and you could save up to £30 a week on household essentials, compared to buying from a regular supermarket.
