The flu vaccine
Getting the flu vaccine is the best way to protect yourself and the people you care for from the flu virus. You can get a free flu vaccine if you are:
- over 65 years old
- living with a long-term health condition
- a care home resident
- a carer
- live with someone who has a weakened immune system
- pregnant
- age 2-16
School-age children are offered the flu vaccine (as well as several others) for free during schooltime. Visit the South London Children and Young People's Community Immunisations website for what is offered and how to catch up if you or your child has any of their immunisations.
Covid-19 and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV)
Adults over 65, pregnant people, residents in care homes and immunosuppressed people can also get free protection against Covid-19 and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV). The following groups can get the Covid-19 and RSV vaccines:
- adults aged 65 years and over
- residents in a care home for older adults
- individuals aged 6 months to 64 years in a clinical risk group (such as diabetes, heart disease, some neurological diseases, liver disease or a weakened immune system)
- pregnant people
Bookings can be made on the NHS App or online at www.nhs.uk/bookcovid. Anyone who can’t get online can call 119 for free where translators will also be available. Find details of Lewisham walk-in vaccination clinics.
