Health screenings and immunisation

Some conditions have specific screening tests to encourage early detection and treatment.
Diabetes
If you have been told that you are at a high risk of developing diabetes following an NHS Health Check or routine blood test, you can be referred to the free Healthier You: NHS diabetes prevention programme.
Bowel cancer screening
In Lewisham, all men and women aged between 60 and 75 years who are registered with a local GP are invited to take part in a bowel screening test.
HIV tests
The only way to find out if you have HIV is to have an HIV test.
Breast cancer screening
All women aged between 50 and 70 years are invited for a breast screening every three years. If you are over the age of 70, your risk does not decrease and you are encouraged to call the unit to make an appointment.
Adult immunisation
We want to make sure that everyone is protected against preventable diseases.
Cervical cancer screening
All women between the ages of 25 and 64 are eligible for a free cervical screening test every three to five years.
