The Wharves Deptford

We granted planning permission for The Wharves Deptford (a.k.a. Oxestalls Road) in spring 2012.

The site has been acquired by developer Lend Lease who are examining how the proposals could be updated to respond to the changing local context and fine-tuned to meet current and future needs.

The previously-approved scheme included 905 homes, new commercial or office space which should lead to the creation of between 550-750 jobs, and potentially both a doctors surgery and a police facility, with buildings ranging in height from 4 to 18 storeys.

From autumn 2014, Lend Lease will be carrying out a process of community consultation to help inform any potential changes.

In recent years, part of this site has been used as a scrap yard which has been the source of numerous complaints from local residents and the subject of enforcement action by both us and the Environment Agency. The development will therefore enhance the appearance of the area, as well as creating new walking and cycling routes through newly-landscaped public space including a key route that follows the line of the former Surrey Canal.
