What prior knowledge, experience and qualifications will I need?
No previous knowledge of the language is assumed for this course.
Learning Goals:
To be able to use greetings and exchange basic information.
To be able to answer simple questions on a particular topic.
To achieve an appropriate level of language across the four skills of speaking, listening, reading and writing.
To record progress through an individual learning plan.
What teaching methods will the tutor use?
Group work, pair work, role play, practical worksheets, one to one support, listening, reading, speaking and writing exercises.
What assessment methods will the tutor use?
Initial assessment, individual learning plans, continuous assessment, informal feedback.
Will extra work be required outside the class times?
Home study may be set to consolidate what is learned in the lessons.
What materials will I need for the course and how much will they cost?
Tutor will discuss and recommend course materials during the course.
What do I need to bring to the first class?
You will need to bring along a notepad and pen. Folder for handouts (optional).

This course can provide learners with the basics needed to progress onto the beginners part 2 course. The tutor will advise you about further courses for progression.
Additional information
This course is equivalent to the European framework of languages (A1), and will give learners a basic knowledge of how the language works and some insight into the culture where the language is spoken.
