French intermediate - part 1

This French intermediate course is to Improve you basic French and learn how to describe events through a variety of topics. On completion of this 10 week French intermediate part 1 course, your vocabulary will be extended and you will have the confidence for coping in social situations, talking about leisure activities, daily routines, invitations and future plans. You will be introduced to the past tense. This is a practical course that takes a task-based approach covering the four skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing.

What prior knowledge, experience and qualifications will I need?
You will have studied French for at least one year, and will be confident in ordering food and drink, asking for directions and talking about your social life and family.

Learning Goals:
To use appropriate level language skills to express opinions (likes/dislikes). To consolidate the perfect tense. To use appropriate level language skills to discuss prepared topics and participate in short discussion on a particular topic. To develop competence in exchanging information.

What teaching methods will the tutor use?
Group work, pair work, role play, practical worksheets, one to one support, listening, reading, speaking and writing exercises.

What assessment methods will the tutor use?
Initial assessment, individual learning plans, continuous assessment, informal feedback.

Will extra work be required outside the class times?
Home study will be set to consolidate what is learned in the lessons.

What materials will I need for the course and how much will they cost?
Tutor will discuss and recommend course materials during the course.

What do I need to bring to the first class?
You will need to bring along a notepad, pen & a folder for handouts.

Options when finished
This course can provide learners with the basics need to go on to Part 2 & 3 and finally study on more advanced courses. The tutor will advise you about further courses for progression.

Additional information
This course is equivalent to the European framework of languages (A2), and will give learners a basic knowledge of how the language works and some insight into the culture where the language is spoken
