Spanish intermediate - part 1

On completion of this 10 week Spanish intermediate part 1 course, your vocabulary and confidence will be extended to cover coping in social situations, talking about leisure activities, home, daily routines, explaining problems encountered around accommodation and making travel arrangements. You will be introduced to the past tense. This is a practical course that takes a task-based approach covering the four skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing.

What prior knowledge, experience and qualifications will I need?
You will have studied Spanish for at least one year at the beginners level and will be confident in ordering food and drink, asking for directions and talking about your social life and family.

Learning Goals:
To talk about work and occupations. To discuss hobbies; arrange leisure activities; express opinions To talk about your plans and intentions. To recount events in the past, say what you have or have not done recently.

What teaching methods will the tutor use?
Group work, pair work, role play, practical worksheets, one to one support, listening, reading, speaking and writing exercises.

What assessment methods will the tutor use?
Initial assessment, individual learning plans, continuous assessment, informal feedback.

Will extra work be required outside the class times?
Home study may be set to consolidate what is learned in the lessons.

What materials will I need for the course and how much will they cost?
Tutor will discuss and recommend course materials during the course.

What do I need to bring to the first class?
You will need to bring along a notepad and pen. Folder for handouts (optional).

Options when finished
This course can provide learners with the basics knowledge needed to progress onto the intermediate part 2 of the course. The tutor will advise you about further courses for progression.

Additional information
This course is equivalent to the European framework of languages (A2), and will give learners a basic knowledge of how the language works and some insight into the culture where the language is spoken
