What prior knowledge, experience and qualifications will I need?
Design and print experience essential. These sessions are mainly used by artists who are preparing work for exhibition or exploring new ideas. If you have no experience but would like to attend, please contact the Curriculum Leader by email to discuss your needs before enrolling.
Learning Goals:
To explore mark making and other basic drawing techniques.
To achieve a variety of quick sketches whilst building confidence.
To create experimental designs that inspire the outcome in the next print process you use.
What teaching methods will the tutor use?
The tutor will use a range of teaching methods during the course which will include the following: Demonstration - both group and individual, one to one tuition, group work, assessment of progress, observation, discussion/question and answer sessions.
What assessment methods will the tutor use?
The course tutor will use a range of methods to assess progress on the course. These may include observation, evaluation of work samples, question and answer sessions, photographs of projects to record achievement presented on the course virtual learning site.
Will extra work be required outside the class times?
Please check your junk mail for any correspondence from us at least 1 day before the course start date. You are required to complete a ‘Getting to know you’ request, once completed this will be followed up with an Individual Learning Plan. We ask that you complete the ILP during the course.
What materials will I need for the course and how much will they cost?
A small charge is included in the course fee for basic materials. Learners will be expected to purchase a variety of paper (NOT supplied as part of the course), drawing equipment including sketchbook . This will be discussed with the course tutor and will not be covered in the course materials fee. Please do not purchase anything before your first lesson unless requested to do so. No liability can be accepted for expenses incurred for a course cancelled/altered at short notice
What do I need to bring to the first class?
All materials provided for the first session.
Options when finished
The department offers a wide variety of Design, Media, Music and Food courses at different levels. Information about these courses is available through the tutor, the Curriculum Leader or the ALL programme.
Additional information
The tutor may need to contact you via email before the workshop begins, please ensure we have your correct details. This is a practical class, ALL cannot be held responsible for any items including work, materials, tools, etc. left by the learner in our workrooms. This learning space is used for a varied course offer, please leave the space clean and tidy ensuring chairs are left ink free, rubbish is disposed of in the correct bin and personal belongings are removed. All drinks taken into this space must be kept in a re-usable lidded cup or drink bottle.
