Personal Project - Ideas and Exploration

Start Your Personal Drawing and Painting Journey! This inspiring course is perfect for learners of all levels who are ready to explore their creativity. Guided by an expert tutor, you'll develop a personal drawing and painting project over three thoughtfully spaced face-to-face sessions: Thursday, 18th September Thursday, 30th October Thursday, 11th December Each session is designed to help you build on your ideas, receive personalised feedback, and gain new techniques. Between classes, you'll be encouraged to continue working at home—experimenting, exploring, and staying inspired. Whether you're refining your skills or starting fresh, this course offers the structure and support to bring your artistic vision to life.

What prior knowledge, experience and qualifications will I need?
No prior knowledge or experience is required, but learners with some experience are also encouraged to enrol in this class.

Learning Goals:
Start a personal project Experiment with different materials and techniques Review drawing and paintings made at home and in class Identify and achieve a personal goal as discussed with your tutor.

What teaching methods will the tutor use?
The tutor will use a range of teaching methods during the course, including demonstration (both group and individual), one to one tuition, group work, progress assessments, observation, discussion and question and answer sessions.

What assessment methods will the tutor use?
The tutor will use various methods to assess your progress during the course. These may include observation, evaluation of work samples and question and answer sessions.

Will extra work be required outside the class times?
The tutor will discuss this with you in your first session.

What materials will I need for the course and how much will they cost?
The course fee includes a small charge for basic art materials and, where applicable, a model. You may be asked to provide additional materials and tools during your course, which may not be covered by the course fee. The course tutor will discuss this with you. Please do not purchase anything before your first session unless requested to do so. No liability can be accepted for expenses incurred for a course cancelled or altered at short notice.

What do I need to bring to the first class?
Materials will be provided each week, but learners are welcome to bring their own if they like. This is a practical subject so please wear suitable clothing.

Options when finished
The department offers a wide variety of art, pottery and performing arts courses. Information about these courses is available through the tutor, the curriculum leader or the ALL programme.

Additional information
Please note that ALL cannot be held responsible for any items including work, materials and tools left by the learner in our workrooms. Learners are expected to remove items during the holiday periods, at the end of the course and in accordance with disposal deadlines set by the tutor.
