Have your say on a new political map of Lewisham

The independent Local Government Boundary Commission for England (LGBCE) is asking people across Lewisham to comment on its draft recommendations for new council ward boundaries.

Proposed changes

The commission’s draft recommendations suggest that we should have 54 councillors. This is the number of councillors we currently have, so no change is required.

The recommendations also suggests having:

  • 16 wards with three councillors and
  • three wards with two councillors.

You can view the full recommendations and detailed interactive maps on the LGBCE website.

You can see the complete draft recommendations below.

Take part in the consultation

There is a public consultation on the recommendations. The consultation runs from Tuesday 17 December 2019 to 2 March 2020.

Anyone can take part.

What happens next

The commission will consider all submissions. It aims to publish its final recommendations on 30 June 2020.

Once the commission agrees its final recommendations, it will lay a draft order in both Houses of Parliament.

Parliament will then have 40 days to consider the recommendations.

If both houses are satisfied with the recommendations, the draft order will be ‘made’. The new wards will come into effect at the council elections in May 2022.
