Walking for transport

Walking is a great (and cheap!) way of getting around the borough and it's surprising how quick it can be to get around on foot.

Walkit: the urban walking route planner

You can use the Walkit website to plan direct walking routes in and around the borough, and find nicer routes away from the traffic.

Transport for London

The TfL Walking in London webpages are devoted to walking, including useful advice on events and routes.

You can plan your journey, if you don't want to walk the entire route, scroll down the page and use the walking options to adjust your journey.

Report a problem on your walking route

Tell us about dog's mess, litter, an overflowing bin, graffiti, cracked paving stones, broken street lights or blocked drains.

Walking beyond the borough

Walking Works

Walking Works is a national campaign to get more of us walking to work and to help employers and employees to get walking more.

Living Streets

A campaign to make our streets livelier with more people wanting to walk, Living Streets lobbies for better streets and neighbourhoods fitter for walking.

We are improving the quality of public space to make walking more pleasurable and hazard-free.

You will see improvements in lighting, paving and signage on key pedestrian routes.
