Holiday activities and food programme

The Government has confirmed that the holiday activities and food programme will continue to be funded by the Department of Education in 2025.
Watergate School building work

Works to expand Watergate School and provide a new adventure playground and multi-use games area on the Dumps site started on Monday 14 April, with the removal of the old adventure play equipment scheduled to start on Tuesday 22 April.

As part of this project, a new and improved adventure play facility will be provided, along with a high-quality multi-use games area and adjacent natural play space.

The project is expected to reach completion in late spring 2026, with play facilities available for the summer holidays and school facilities open for the start of the autumn term. Throughout the works, every effort will be made to minimise disruption to the school and local community, and youth service provision will continue onsite for as long as feasibly possible.

We are really pleased to continue supporting the delivery of this programme, with many providers offering various fun-packed sessions, including arts, crafts, sports and trips that will run throughout the School Easter, Summer and Christmas holidays.

There will be free activities and lunches for children and young people who are:

  • aged 4 to 16 years (reception to year 11)
  • in receipt of benefit-related Free School Meals

Each club will provide:

  • a wide range of exciting activities to suit different ages and personalities
  • fun physical activity sessions
  • free, nutritious, and tasty food

How to book activities

Families who receive benefit related free school meals will receive a HAF (Holiday Activities and Food) Code via email or text message.

This code lets you access a webpage with details of all activities and book your child’s space.  Make sure you follow the link and instructions in the message.

Each code is unique to each family. Families with more than one child will get a code for each child.

If you haven’t received a HAF code and your child receives, benefit related free school meals, or if you require any support with bookings, contact HAF Programme

We also have a number of places available on a first come, first serve basis for parents and carers who are experiencing hardship, but whose children do not receive free school meals. Email the team on the email address above if you’d like to apply for one of these places.
