Meet expert knitter & tutor Eliza House at this friendly and informal session- which is aimed at beginners level knitters and non-knitters who would love to get started and may need some motivation. Come along with any current starter knitting projects that you are working on & might need some support and advice with- or simply find out more about learning to knit and have a go!

What prior knowledge, experience and qualifications will I need?
This session is suitable for complete beginners to the subject, those with very rusty skills that they would like to refresh, and more confident beginners with good basic skills who want to learn more !

What teaching methods will the tutor use?
The tutor will use a range of methods during the session, and these will include demonstration, discussion, Q&A and one to one guidance, where applicable

What assessment methods will the tutor use?
Where applicable, the course tutor will use a range of methods to assess your individual sampling progress, including observation & discussion of your work, and group Q&A

Will extra work be required outside the class times?
No additional work outside of class is required.

What materials will I need for the course and how much will they cost?
If you are a complete beginner, you will have access to needles and yarns that you can use to practice with during the session

What do I need to bring to the first class?
Please bring along your own needles if you have them, and your currnet project or idea if you would like to discuss that

Options when finished
The department offers a wide variety of fashion and textile courses at different levels. Information about progression courses is available through the tutor, the Curriculum Leader or the online Adult Learning Lewisham programme. There are also a range of courses at a higher level offered across London and the South East by Colleges, Community and Adult Education providers and through local craftspeople. For more information about higher level courses currently available, please speak to your tutor or the Curriculum Leader.
