What prior knowledge, experience and qualifications will I need?
Learners need to have an interest in music and have chosen the course themselves, ability to vocalise is important.There will be a pre-course assessment.
Learning Goals:
To participate in warm up listening exercises to improve rhythm and timing.
To participate & progress in group percussion playing exercises in harmony. To participate in class lyric writing
To explore self-expression through music. Improvise with own lyrics. Write them down with help Learn to use a microphone With your percussion instrument to lead the group..
To create a portfolio of evidence of learning and achievement on the course.
What teaching methods will the tutor use?
Group work. Pair work. 1:1. Demonstration. Support worker input. Research on the internet.
What assessment methods will the tutor use?
Initial assessment and formative assessment recorded weekly on diaries and reviewed regularly on Individual Learning Plans (ILPs).
Observation, verbal feedback, learner self-assessment, peer group interaction, practical group activities and work sheets.
Will extra work be required outside the class times?
Learner will be encouraged to practise tasks, exercises and skills learnt in class at home.
What materials will I need for the course and how much will they cost?
Wear comfortable clothing and bring an A4 File, pen and paper
What do I need to bring to the first class?
Learners will be expected to purchase an A4 folder to contain handouts. Also a face mask to wear in all areas of the building.

There are a variety of different courses available in the supported learning department. Information about these courses are available through the tutor and curriculum leader.

We expect a commitment to attend well. This is beneficial to making progress. If you have problems in class with your work or with other learners please speak to your tutor or contact the Curriculum Leader.
All courses are planned to be delivered in the learning centres. Class sizes have been reduced to help with social distancing.
If new lock down measures are put in place class sizes will be reduced to 4, 6 depending on the room size. If more than 4 are enrolled, classes will be divided into two groups to attend alternate weeks, with access to course via ALL Moodle & handouts. .
