Beginner no more! Build your confidence and ability. This 11 week course is for Adults with Learning Difficulties and supports employability, community inclusion and independent living pathways. This hands-on course will allow you to develop your ICT skills, stretch your imagination/creativity and boost your confidence in understanding why and how we use multimedia. You will learn to use different software programmes with multimedia features to create something of interest for yourself. For example a story, video, multimedia poster or learning resource. Learning these skills will enrich your employability skills.

What prior knowledge, experience and qualifications will I need?
This course is part of a discrete curriculum for Adults with a Learning Disability. Enrolment is by interview at a Pre-Course Assessment (PCA) appointment. To enjoy and take full advantage of this course you need to be able to recongise the letters of the alphabet and identify and count numbers 1-10 confidently. The ability to read some simple words and have some basic computer skills would be an advantage.There will be a pre-course assessment.

Learning Goals:
Use an iPad camera to take videos. Record videos using different camera modes that are avaliable (depending on iPadOS version). Use the iPad Photo app to edit your recorded videos. Save completed work and upload to ALL VLE Moodle.

What teaching methods will the tutor use?
Image based worksheets and helpsheets, tutor-led demonstrations, one-to-one guidance, discussions, role play and peer group appraisal. Literacy and numeracy skills will be embedded into class activities.

What assessment methods will the tutor use?
All classroom activities will be assessed using various methods such as observation, levels of participation during class actvities and weekly learning record sheets. The tutor will give regular feedback to learners about their work and abillites through completed class activities, tutor devised quizzes, on-going assessments and Individual Learning Plans.

Will extra work be required outside the class times?
Learners can practise skills learnt in class between lessons or at home in their free time. This is beneficial to making progress because it will improve their ability to recall information and help them retain classroom learning.

What materials will I need for the course and how much will they cost?
Pens and an A4 folder to keep completed class work and hand-outs given from the tutor. A USB is optional; learners can save their work in the computer drive.

What do I need to bring to the first class?
Learners must bring their folder with them to the class every week. This will enable any learning gaps to be addressed and will minimise disruption in the journey of learning.

We expect a commitment to attend well. This is beneficial to making progress. If you have problems in class with your work or with other learners please speak to your tutor or contact the Curriculum Leader. All courses are planned to be delivered in the learning centres.
