What prior knowledge, experience and qualifications will I need?
To enrol on the course you need to be able to recognise the letters of the alphabet and identify and count numbers 1-10 confidently. The ability to read some simple words would be an advantage but is not essential. There will be a pre-course assessment.
Learning Goals:
Recognise the uses of all the programmes taught in the course and create a personal folder to save completed class activities into.
Demonstrate an awareness of and familiarity with the layout of the keyboard and the mouse buttons.
Use the Windows taskbar to toggle between programmes and use the 3 programme window control buttons (minimize, maximize, close) to manage what is displayed on the screen.
Perform a search by using search terms (type one or more keywords) and navigate chosen websites.
What teaching methods will the tutor use?
Within this small supportive class, your tutor may use the following teaching methods that will be inclusive for all abilities and levels, so that all learners make good progress towards their goals: demonstrations, discussions, 1:1 support and practical group activities.
What assessment methods will the tutor use?
Assessment may include: informal question and answer, feedback, self-assessment, quizzes, games, portfolios and case studies.
Will extra work be required outside the class times?
It will be beneficial for you to practise what you have learnt in class in your everyday life and you may be asked by your tutor to complete something specific to enhance your new skills and improve your confidence.
What materials will I need for the course and how much will they cost?
Pens and an A4 folder to keep completed class work and hand-outs given from the tutor. A USB is optional; learners can save their work in the computer drive.
What do I need to bring to the first class?
Learners must bring their folder with them to the class every week. This will enable any learning gaps to be addressed and will minimise disruption in the journey of learning.
