What prior knowledge, experience and qualifications will I need?
Basic spoken English, ability to recognise numbers and letters, copy text, ability to pick out different patterns in text
Learning Goals:
Explore number skills, counting to 10 and beyond. To write own name.
To be familiar with commonly used symbols for information and safety. To respond to questions and talk about own interests.
Agree a personal Maths and Communication goal.
To demonstrate your progress to develop your English and Maths skills. To record your progress throughout the course.
What teaching methods will the tutor use?
Within this small supportive class, your tutor may use the following teaching methods that will be inclusive for all abilities and levels, so that all learners make good progress towards their goals: demonstrations, discussions, 1:1 support and practical group activities.
What assessment methods will the tutor use?
Assessment may include: informal question and answer, feedback, self-assessment, quizzes, games, portfolios and case studies.
Will extra work be required outside the class times?
It will be beneficial for you to practise what you have learnt in class in your everyday life and you may be asked by your tutor to complete something specific to enhance your new skills and improve your confidence.
What materials will I need for the course and how much will they cost?
A4 writing pad, pens, pencils, a ruler and an A4 File. Learners may buy their own USB memory stick to save their work and take with them at the end of term all widely available ar affordable prices.
What do I need to bring to the first class?
Pen, a A4 folder and paper.
All learners must have their own face mask, wear it to travel to and from the Learning Centre, when they are at the Learning Centre and class room.
Options when finished
If good progress is achieved you can move on to other adult literacy and numeracy courses or you can enrol another Supported Learning course to continue your progress.

We expect a commitment to attend well. This is beneficial to making progress. If you have problems in class with your work or with other learners please speak to your tutor or contact the curriculum leader. Enrolment on the course is through interview with the supported learning curriculum leader. Please book an appointment.
