Rhythm and grooves - Art of drumming - summer

These sessions will explore rhythm as a group, through hand drumming and percussion instruments. We will explore rhythms and grooves from across the world, each half-term focusing on a different region. We will explore lots of West African rhythms, South and Central American rhythms, Balkan grooves, and how diasporas caused these rhythms and grooves to travel across the world and develop into brand new genres and grooves that we experience today. These are sessions for people who have experience of playing rhythmically and who want to improve their rhythm and drumming skills. We will predominately be playing as a group, learning intersecting rhythms and sometimes working in small groups.
