What prior knowledge, experience and qualifications will I need?
This course best suits learners with some prior knowledge and experience of art courses but beginners are very welcome. The most important thing needed for this course is enthusiasm and a desire to learn. This course will focus on gaining skills in a range of drawing techniques. There will be a pre-course assessment.
Learning Goals:
Experience and develop new skills and techniques when working on art projects
Learn to make decisions on how best to progress with your visual creative journey
Be part of a creative group to help increase your mental health wellbeing
Gain confidence in discussing and sharing your work and ideas
What teaching methods will the tutor use?
Within this small supportive class, your tutor may use the following teaching methods that will be inclusive for all abilities and levels, so that all learners make good progress towards their goals: demonstrations, discussions, 1:1 support and practical group activities.
What assessment methods will the tutor use?
Assessment may include: informal question and answer, feedback, self-assessment, quizzes, games, portfolios and case studies.
Will extra work be required outside the class times?
It will be beneficial for you to practise what you have learnt in class in your everyday life and you may be asked by your tutor to complete something specific to enhance your new skills and improve your confidence.
What materials will I need for the course and how much will they cost?
Learners should wear old clothes and bring a notebook and pen. An A4 sketchbook and A3 carrying portfolio would also be useful. When working with messy material it is useful to have your own rubber gloves.
What do I need to bring to the first class?
You should bring: a sketchbook and pen. All learners will be asked to arrive to the lesson on time so that you are able to access the course information and safety procedures.
