On this 1 day class you will look at the dynamic, textural works of Anselm Keifer - you will be guided by your tutor to get stuck in to the impasto, multi layered approach of one of the world's greatest living painters. Complementing two of Keifer's London shows in 2025 you will have the opportunity to explore his varied techniques and experience the power that different materials can bring to your painting.

What prior knowledge, experience and qualifications will I need?
This course welcomes all levels. No prior knowledge or experience is required for this course.

Learning Goals:
Develop drawing and painting techniques using Anselm Keifer for inspiration Develop your ability to observe and represent using impasto and mixed media Produce a minimum of one basic composition. Achieve a personal goal as discussed with your tutor.

What teaching methods will the tutor use?
The tutor will use a range of teaching methods during the class, including demonstration, one to one tuition, group work, observation, discussion and question and answer sessions.

What assessment methods will the tutor use?
The tutor will use a range of methods to assess your progress during the class. These may include observation, evaluation of your work and a question and answer session.

Will extra work be required outside the class times?
This is a one day class and does not require any additional work.

What materials will I need for the course and how much will they cost?
Please do not purchase anything before your session unless requested to do so. No liability can be accepted for expenses incurred for a class cancelled or altered at short notice.

What do I need to bring to the first class?
paints will be supplied. This is a practical subject, so please wear suitable clothing.

The department offers a wide variety of art, pottery and performing arts courses. Information about these courses is available through the tutor, the curriculum leader or the ALL programme.

Please note that ALL cannot be held responsible for any items including work, materials and tools left by the learner in our workrooms. Learners are expected to remove items at the end of the session.
