Life drawing – all day – one day workshop – June

In this one-day figure drawing session, you'll begin by exploring different techniques such as gestural drawing, blind contour drawing, opposite hand and action drawing. After loosening up with a series short poses, and working to music, you'll build up to a very long pose in the afternoon.

What prior knowledge, experience and qualifications will I need?
No prior knowledge or experience is required, but learners with some experience are also encouraged to enrol.

Learning Goals:
Explore and experiment with various drawing and painting materials. Try a variety of drawing and painting techniques. Complete a minimum of two artworks based on still life arrangements or abstraction. Identify and achieve a personal goal as discussed with your tutor.

What teaching methods will the tutor use?
The tutor will use a range of teaching methods during the class, including demonstration, one to one tuition, group work, observation, discussion and question and answer sessions.

What assessment methods will the tutor use?
The tutor will use a range of methods to assess your progress during the class. These may include observation, evaluation of your work and a question and answer session.

Will extra work be required outside the class times?
This is a one day class and does not require any additional work.

What materials will I need for the course and how much will they cost?
Please do not purchase anything before your session unless requested to do so. No liability can be accepted for expenses incurred for a class cancelled or altered at short notice.

What do I need to bring to the first class?
This is a practical subject, so please wear suitable clothing. Materials will be provided, but learners are welcome to bring their own if they like.

Options when finished
The department offers a wide variety of art, pottery and performing arts courses. Information about these courses is available through the tutor, the curriculum leader or the ALL programme.

Please note that ALL cannot be held responsible for any items including work, materials and tools left by the learner in our workrooms. Learners are expected to remove items at the end of the session.
