Brownfield land register

We have a duty to prepare, maintain and publish a brownfield land register under the Brownfield Land Register Regulations 2017 and the Permissions in Principle Order 2017.

The brownfield land register is available in two formats. If you need help understanding the register, please read the glossary.

​The register is split into two parts

Part 1

Part 1 refers to all columns in the register, except the column labelled part 2. Part 1 provides information about each site in the register. We include sites in part 1 if they meet all of the following criteria:

• The land is at least 0.25 hectares, or is capable of providing at least five self-contained homes.

• The land is suitable for residential or mixed-use development because the concept has been established through planning approvals, adopted site allocations or lapsed planning permissions.

• The land is available for development because landowners or developers have expressed an interest to sell or develop and there are no issues preventing development.

• Development is achievable and likely to take place within 15 years.

Sites in part 1 that do not already have planning permission will need to go through the usual planning application process.

Part 2

At this stage we have not included sites in part 2. If we decide to grant permissions in principle (PIP) in the future, they will appear in this column.

To find a site on a map:

• open the register

• check the third column to find the site reference, and the last column to find the map number

• open the relevant map

The site boundaries shown are not definitive. You can find accurate site boundaries by searching for the relevant planning application or by finding site allocations in the core strategy, site allocations local plan or Lewisham town centre local plan.

If you are a landowner, planning applicant or developer of a site newly added to the register, we will contact you with more information. You will have the opportunity to let us know if any of the information on the register is incorrect, or if sites have been missed off the register.

Updating the register

We will identify new sites and update the register at least once a year.
