(L-R) Councillor Paul Bell, Cllr Brenda Dacres, Mayor Damien Egan and Cllr Joe Dromey at the Amersham Vale development. The Mayor and councillors met with senior representatives from Peabody and Sherrygreen Homes and contractor Mullaley. The Amersham Vale development is part of a joint venture between Peabody and Sherrygreen Homes. The site will provide 120 new homes, bringing 24 new social homes onto a currently vacant site, with 15 for shared ownership.

Amersham Vale sits within the wider Deptford Southern sites which are currently under development. The scheme will deliver 141 social homes in total between two sites, including 13 homes for existing residents and will provide a mixture of apartments, maisonettes and family houses.

A new public 1.41 acre park, also including the Charlottenburg Park space, has been constructed on the former Deptford Green school site opposite. The park is part of a wider regeneration scheme to provide 329 much-needed new homes within Deptford.

Damien said, 'Lewisham is experiencing the effects of a severe housing crisis, which is why one of this administration’s top priorities is to deliver new social homes. This development across two sites will include 141 homes at social rents with life time tenancies, which will go to families on our council waiting list. I look forward to meeting the families who move in to these homes once they are built.'
