What we do

Environmental Health is essentially split into two teams covering mainly statutory regulation plus some other functions.

The Environmental Protection Team covers air quality (from both a statutory remit and as part of a number of campaigns to improve air quality and provide advice and information to the public). It also deals with the areas of contaminated land, industrial noise, control of pollution in relation to large scale developments, approval of certain industrial premises and processes, as well as other public health functions.

The Food and Safety Team deals with the regulation, investigation and complaints about food safety, food hygiene and food standards, along with infections disease control, health and safety, massage and special treatment licensing and food hygiene training.
