About our apprenticeships

Find out more about doing an apprenticeship with us, including the benefits you get.

What you will learn

Apprenticeships are a mixture of on-the-job and off-the-job training. On the job, you learn key transferable skills, such as:

  • working in teams

  • problem solving

  • communication

  • using new technology

Off the job, you spend time working towards a recognised apprenticeship standard.

Apprenticeship length

Apprenticeships at Lewisham Council are 18 months. Apprenticeships can be different lengths, but they are all at least one year long.

Benefits

Pay

We offer apprentices an annual salary starting at £21,808.

If you are aged 18 and over in the first year of your apprenticeship, you can get a 30% discount on travelcards and bus and tram season tickets. Apply for your discount from Transport for London.
