The Government has set a target for the number of apprentices we employ.
Between 1 April 2017 and 31 March 2021, we aim for at least 2.3% of people starting a new job to be apprentices. This could be new recruits or existing council staff starting an apprenticeship.
When we make decisions about workforce planning, we must actively consider apprenticeships.
We must provide an annual return to the Department for Education showing our progress towards meeting the public sector apprenticeship target. See our annual figures below.
