Managing asbestos in your home or business

This section gives information to businesses and residents concerned about asbestos.

If your property is more than 15 years old, it's possible that it contains materials made from asbestos.

Asbestos in homes is commonly found:

  • on garage or shed roofs
  • in shed and garage wall panels
  • in drain pipes
  • in insulation board soffit, infill panels and partitions
  • on the side of bath panels.

Removing asbestos from your home

The City of London operates a household hazardous waste collection service on our behalf. You can call them on 020 7332 3433.

If you have a large amount of asbestos, and the City of London are unable to help you, then you should contact an asbestos removal contractor. Find asbestos removal contractors

You can also call the Asbestos Removal Contractors Association on 01283 566 467.
