There is plenty on offer locally for lovers of dance, from adults' and children's classes at the Laban, to Latin nights at Brockley's Rivoli Ballroom.
Performance venues
The Albany
Dance performances at The Albany reflect the diversity and creativity of London. You can watch everything from ground breaking hip hop theatre to world fusion styles. The venue also hosts 21st Century Tea Dance and Disco Kids events.
Broadway Theatre
The Broadway hosts regular shows from local dance schools and academies, as well as the dance strand of the annual Lewisham Live festival of young people's music and dance. There are also occasional classical ballet performances.
Contemporary dance classes and courses
Trinity Laban
Europe's leading music and dance conservatoire, housed in an award-winning building, offers training in contemporary dance, ballet, hip-hop and more. The Education and Community Programme includes an annual summer school, community based adult and children's classes and professional training activities.
Montage Theatre Arts
The programme of classes for people 55+ includes Dance Fever! which gives taster sessions in Jive, Salsa, Ballroom, Tap and more.
Latin dance classes and courses
There are Latin nights at the Rivoli Ballroom, and Mandacaru have classes in all Latin styles for both adults and children at the Horniman Museum & Gardens, where the offer also includes dances from around the world.
Children's dance classes and courses
For ongoing programmes that give children and young people the opportunity to learn and share dance skills there are organisations such as Second Wave, Irie and Montage.
