Arts opportunities for young people

Find out about groups and clubs that can help you develop your talent as a musician, dancer or actor.

You can also take courses in the visual arts and crafts, writing and photography.

To keep up to date on all youth arts developments, register with the Lewisham Education Arts Network, which also co-ordinates the Youth Arts Network.

Music and dance

Lewisham Live

A music and dance festival showcasing young talent. Held in March each year.

Lewisham Music Hub

A new network of local and regional music organisations supporting music learning in and out of school. For young people aged 5-18 years.

Midi Music Company

Offers affordable music classes for children and career development for emerging artists.

Montage Theatre Arts

Dance including ballet, tap, street dance; early starters programmes; youth theatre company; drama; holiday workshops and digital arts.

Studio 23 Performing Arts

Local Performing Arts school based in Forest Hill. Offering dance, vocal training, and drama classes for the community. Classes available for all ages from 4 years old through to adults. All classes taught by professional teachers.

Trinity Laban

Offers a wide range of music and dance opportunities for children and young people.

Theatre

Age Exchange Theatre Trust

Offers youth theatre programmes as well as running intergenerational programmes focusing on reminiscence work.

Albany Uncover Programme

For 13-19-year olds interested in learning new skills and exploring theatre, music, spoken word and technical production.

Greenwich and Lewisham Young People's Theatre

Provides a wide range of opportunities for young people to learn through drama and theatre arts.

Lewisham Youth Theatre

Puts on youth theatre productions. Also offers free drama workshops, education outreach and Saturday morning children’s theatre.  

Second Wave

Puts on a regular programmes of performing arts workshops, events, productions. Offers arts training and employment opportunities for young people aged 13-25 years.

The Hunt Academy for Young Actors

Offers fun and affordable part time actor training for young people aged 5-25. Offers industry representation through their industry leading child actors agency.
