Family learning - reflexology for feet with your child - aged above 8

Are you seeking an opportunity to spend some quality time with your child and learn something together? The Reflexology for Feet with Your Child, one day workshop, is a great way to achieve that. It provides practical instruction in reflexology massage. You and your child will learn how to give a reflexology massage and treatment safely and effectively to ensure it is suitable for children. You will also learn about other forms of reflexology. Under the tutor's supervision and guidance, you will be able to engage in practical tasks, gain confidence and enjoy learning new skills together.

What prior knowledge, experience and qualifications will I need?
The course is suitable for beginners. An interest in reflexology and learning together with your child is essential.

Learning Goals:
You will learn how to give a foot reflexology and massage treatment adapted for a child; You will understand how reflexology works, including the benefits and contra indications; You will learn what role reflexology plays in our everyday life; You and your child will spend some quality time together.

What teaching methods will the tutor use?
A range of teaching methods will be used to suit different learning styles, including formal teaching, classroom discussions, group activities, presentations, hands-on practical tasks with 1:1 feedback, etc.

What assessment methods will the tutor use?
You will be assessed in different ways to support your achievement and progress. Some of the assessment methods which will be used include: questions and answers, observation of practical work with 1:1 and peer feedback, group discussions, peer assessment and self-assessment.

Will extra work be required outside the class times?
Practising the sequences learnt in class on friends/family will be beneficial as practice is required to consolidate class work.

What materials will I need for the course and how much will they cost?
Wet wipes, cream, 2 large towels, notebook and pen

What do I need to bring to the first class?
Notebook and pen, 2 large towels, cream, wet wipes, please wear comfortable clothing

The department offers a wide variety of wellbeing courses. Information about these is available through the tutor, the curriculum leader or the ALL programme.

Additional information
This course is for parents/carers and children of 8 years of age or above. Class is restricted to 1 child per adult. It is a non-accredited course, however you will be issued a certificate of attendance at the end of the day if a whole session is attended. It is 5 Guided Learning Hours course, there is a half an hour lunch break incorporated in the timings stated as a duration of the class. Please note that on-site canteen may not be open on Saturdays.
