What prior knowledge, experience and qualifications will I need?
For learners choosing jewellery as a potential career. A basic level English, Maths and computer skills would be useful.
Learning Goals:
To build and develop your skills in dark room printing.
To complete a work in progress.
To experiment and expand your portfolio of work.
Identify and achieve a personal goal as discussed with your tutor.
What teaching methods will the tutor use?
The tutor will use a range of teaching methods during the course which will include the following: Demonstration - both group and individual, one to one tuition, group work, assessment of progress, observation, discussion/question and answer sessions. ALL ON-LINE.
What assessment methods will the tutor use?
The course tutor will use a range of methods to assess progress on the course. These may include: observation by video or photographs, completion of an Individual Learning Plan which will be discussed via email, Google meets, live chat, evaluation of work samples, question and answer sessions via Google Hangouts or email, photographs of projects to record achievement presented on our virtual learning environment (VLE). Don’t forget to have photos/sketches/images available for discussion via email.
Will extra work be required outside the class times?
You will be expected to take full advantage of our virtual learning environment and log in at least 24 hours before the course begins to prepare in advance for the day https://all.lewisham.gov.uk/ (VLE). Signing into our course moodle site will enable you to access information about the centres, enrolment dates, take part in course forums, messaging and other various online activities.
Please provide digital photographs of your work by sending them to the tutor throughout the course. Don’t forget that homework exercises are set to enhance and develop techniques learnt during the session.
What materials will I need for the course and how much will they cost?
A hand held digital camera with manual controls is essential. You will need access to the internet and a working computer with camera to take part fully in the activities planned for this course. The materials and equipment required for this course will be listed on moodle prior to the start date.
What do I need to bring to the first class?
Your own hand held digital camera with manual controls at the ready. Working ideas notebook and images for inspiration. Your completed initial assessment and risk assessment if you haven’t emailed it in advance to the tutor. Don't forget to wear suitable clothing.
Options when finished
The department offers a wide variety of design, media, music and food courses at different levels. Information about these courses is available through the tutor, the curriculum leader or the ALL programme.

The tutor will contact you via email before the course begins please ensure we have your correct details. You may be asked to take part in a test run google meet in the week leading up to the start of the course to ensure everything is working correctly. Please check your emails.
