Lewisham Council's CQC Adult Social Care inspection
From April 2023, the CQC introduced a new Local Authority Assurance Framework. This means they now carry out formal inspections of Adult Social Care departments in councils, focusing on how services are planned, delivered, and experienced by the people who use them.
What will the CQC look at?
The inspection is based on four key themes:
- working with people – how well we support individuals to have choice, control and live independently
- providing support – whether care and support is person-centred, strengths-based and coordinated
- ensuring safety – how we safeguard adults and support safe, high-quality care services
- leadership – how well we plan, lead and improve services across the care system
When will Lewisham Council be inspected?
CQC inspections started nationwide in April 2023. Lewisham Council received notification of our first inspection in June 2025. The on-site visit is expected to take place between July and December 2025.
How can you get involved?
The CQC wants to hear from:
- people who use Adult Social Care services
- family members, carers, and advocates
- local community groups and support organisations
You may be invited to complete a survey, attend an interview, or give feedback through other channels. Taking part is completely voluntary, and anything you share will remain anonymous.
What happens after the inspection?
Following the inspection, the CQC will publish a report summarising:
- what’s working well in Lewisham
- areas for improvement
- the overall experience of people who use our services
- how we’re progressing toward better outcomes and reducing inequalities
Lewisham Council will develop a formal action plan in response to the findings and continue working with residents and partners to improve.
