Care Quality Commission standards
In August 2023, the Department for Health and Social Care published its framework for adult social care (ASC) intervention in local authorities.
Lewisham Council was given notification of its assessment on the 9th June 2025 with a deadline of Friday 27 June to complete the initial information request. We will get further notification of an onsite inspection within the next 3 to 6 months.
The CQC will review people’s experience, feedback from staff and leaders and feedback from partners as well as review our processes to assess our performance across a number of key themes:
- working with people
- providing support
- safety
- leadership

Why it matters
Good care can make a big difference to someone’s life.
By following the CQC standards, we help make sure that everyone in Lewisham who needs care and support can live safely, with dignity, and as independently as possible.
When services meet the CQC’s high standards, it builds trust, improves wellbeing, and helps people feel confident in the care they receive.
We are committed to working with our providers, staff teams, and residents to keep improving and delivering care that makes a real difference.
