Preparation for British Citizenship - GESE exam (ELS03FCBR)

Do you need to apply for Citizenship or for Further Leave to Remain and need to take the SELT GESE Grade 5 or 3 exam? On this intensive one week course our specialised ESOL tutors will give you a full understanding of the GESE grade 5 or grade 3 exam requirements. They will prepare you for all the exam tasks; they will guide you through the process of finding an exam centre and booking your exam. On the course you will reinforce your grammar knowledge at Entry 2 / Entry 3. You will revise the use of useful key language functions, grammar, lexis, phonology and subject areas for the conversation and for the presentation of your topic. You will use present, past and future verb tenses.

What prior knowledge, experience and qualifications will I need?
To join this course you need a spoken level of English at Entry 3 (B1 CEFR).
Learning Goals:
To become fully aware of the exam procedure. To have completed the preparation for the SELT GESE Graded examination. To choose a topic for the exam and prepare the presentation for your topic. To learn how to book your exam session on line.
What teaching methods will the tutor use?
Learners will work all together, in small groups or individually. The teaching methods will include: tutor presentations, listening to audio materials and watching videos, speaking practice in groups, word-drilling, role-play, individual pronunciation practice, reading and comprehension exercises, language games, puzzles, group written work, individual worksheets, free writing and tutorials.
What assessment methods will the tutor use?
Initial assessment with interview, diagnostic assessment on joining course and tutorial to negotiate a learning plan. Formative assessments with tutorials. Assessment of topic phase discussion. Assessment of the conversation phase and final mock exam.
Will extra work be required outside the class times?
You will be directed to the Trinity online resources for extra practice. You will need to choose a topic of your interest and practice the conversation phase.
What materials will I need for the course and how much will they cost?
None
What do I need to bring to the first class?
An A4 ring binder and paper, pencil, pen, ruler and a rubber. English Grammar in Use by Murphy.
Options when finished
You will be able to take the SELT GESE Grade 5 Citizenship exam.
