This course will eradicate the fear of using IT. You will learn how to get the most out of using the mouse versus the keyboard. We will cover in detail the key features of using windows and understanding different drives. You will learn effective and efficient methods of using Windows and the internet.

What prior knowledge, experience and qualifications will I need?
No prior knowledge is needed for this course except enthusiasm and a desire to learn.There will be a pre-course assessment.

Learning Goals:
To develop mouse skills and familiarise yourself with the computer keyboard To navigate and work with drives, Windows features and online forms To learn effective methods of searching the internet including history tools and bookmarks N/A

What teaching methods will the tutor use?
Within this small supportive class, your tutor may use the following teaching methods that will be inclusive for all abilities and levels, so that all learners make good progress towards their goals: demonstrations, discussions, 1:1 support and practical group activities.

What assessment methods will the tutor use?
Assessment may include: informal question and answer, feedback, self-assessment, quizzes, games, portfolios and case studies.

Will extra work be required outside the class times?
It will be beneficial for you to practise what you have learnt in class in your everyday life and you may be asked by your tutor to complete something specific to enhance your new skills and improve your confidence.

What materials will I need for the course and how much will they cost?
You can buy your own USB memory stick, to save your work to take with you at the end of term.

What do I need to bring to the first class?
A4 file, a pen and paper

Options when finished
There are a variety of different courses available in the Mindlift Department. Information about these courses is available through the tutor and curriculum leader. You can also apply to mainstream courses and have support from the Mindlift department.

We expect a commitment to attend well. This is beneficial to making progress. If you have problems in class with your work or with other learners please speak to your tutor or contact the curriculum leader. Enrolment on the course is through an interview with the Mindlift curriculum leader. Please book an appointment.
