Spanish - upper intermediate/lower advance - part 1

This Spanish course will allow you to communicate in an environment which will enhance your grasp of Spanish. In addition, on completion of this 10-week Spanish upper intermediate lower advanced course, your vocabulary will be enhanced in that you will have the ability to converse about what you have done recently and what you did in the past and your plans for the future. You will describe actions that happened in the past as well as discussing character and mood in everyday life situations. Finally, you will participate in lots of listening and speaking activities. This is a practical course that takes a task-based approach covering the four skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing.

What prior knowledge, experience and qualifications will I need?
You should have studied the language for at least two years. Feel confident with numbers, spelling, personal information, shopping, travelling, daily activities, free time activities, the time, directions, and location, describing yourself, describing your house. You should feel confident with the verb tenses: present and future and have some basic knowledge of expressing the past.

Learning Goals:
To develop conversation skills. To consolidate and understand the different tenses when talking about past, present and future activities. To achieve an appropriate level of language across the four skills of reading, writing, listening and speaking. To expand vocabulary and everyday expressions in a variety of topics.

What teaching methods will the tutor use?
Group work, pair work, role play, practical worksheets, one to one support, listening, reading, speaking, and writing exercises.

Will extra work be required outside the class times?
Home study may be set to consolidate what is learned in the lessons.

You will need to bring along a notepad and pen. Folder for handouts (optional).

Options when finished
This course can provide learners with the basic knowledge needed to progress onto the part 2 of the course. The tutor will advise you about further courses for progression.

Additional information
This course is equivalent to the European Framework of languages (B1), and can provide learners with the basics needed to go on to study for more advanced courses. The tutor will advise you about further courses for progression.
