What prior knowledge, experience and qualifications will I need?
No previous knowledge of the language is assumed for this course.
Learning Goals:
Learn basic vocabulary and structures: spelling, numbers, greetings, personal info, physical description, shopping for food.
To be able to participate in short discussions on the topics mentioned in goal 1.
To achieve an appropriate level of language across the four skills of speaking, listening, reading and writing.
To record your progress through an individual learning plan (ILP).
What teaching methods will the tutor use?
Group and pair work, role play, practical worksheets, one-to-one support, listening, reading, speaking and writing exercises.
What assessment methods will the tutor use?
Initial assessment, individual learning plans, continuous assessment, informal feedback.
Will extra work be required outside the class times?
Home study will be set to consolidate what is learned in the lesson.
What materials will I need for the course and how much will they cost?
Tutor will discuss and recommend course materials during the course.
What do I need to bring to the first class?
You will need to bring along a notepad and pen. Folder for handouts (optional).

This course can provide learners with the basics needed to progress onto the Spanish beginners part 2 course.
Additional information
This course is equivalent to the European framework of languages (A1), and will give learners a basic knowledge of how the language works and some insight into the culture where the language is spoken.
