Pilates yoga fusion – free taster class

This free taster session uses a combination of pilates and yoga movements to help you exercise your core and stabilise your muscles effectively. Both types of exercise are perfect for improving your posture and extending your range of motion. The tutor will also tell you about longer courses that are available.

What prior knowledge, experience and qualifications will I need?
This class is suitable for beginners.

Learning Goals:
Learn about pilates yoga fusion. Understand the benefits pilates yoga fusion can offer. Explore some poses associated with this type of exercise. Consider whether a pilates yoga fusion class is for you.

What teaching methods will the tutor use?
The tutor will use a range of teaching methods during the class, including demonstration, observation, discussion and question and answer sessions.

What assessment methods will the tutor use?
The tutor will gauge your progress by observing your performance, correcting your poses and offering guidance and feedback. You'll also use self assessment, discussion and feedback from your peers.

Will extra work be required outside the class times?
This is a short taster class and does not require any additional work.

What materials will I need for the course and how much will they cost?
You will need a yoga mat. These are available at the centre, but you're welcome to bring your own. The tutor may indicate where you can buy equipment, but please don't purchase anything before your first session unless requested to do so. No liability can be accepted for expenses incurred for a course cancelled or altered at short notice.

What do I need to bring to the first class?
Please bring your yoga mat if you have one, and wear comfortable clothing that doesn't restrict your movement.

Options when finished
The tutor will discuss progression options as part of the session. The department offers a wide variety of wellbeing courses. Information about these is available through the tutor, the curriculum leader or the ALL programme.

Additional information
Please note that although this class is scheduled to take place in either the dance studio or the gym, these spaces may be unavailable at times, in which case sessions may be delivered online.
