In this hands-on, two-hour workshop, you’ll transform vintage costume jewellery, found objects, and repurposed mixed materials into a stunning necklace that’s full of personality. Whether you bring meaningful pieces from home or use the unique materials provided, you'll explore creative ways to recycle and reinvent jewellery, turning past favourites into something fresh and expressive.

What prior knowledge, experience and qualifications will I need?
No experience needed just a love for creativity and an eye for transformation. Please be advised that some learners who enrol will have more experience than others. A basic level of English, Maths and computer skills would be useful.

Learning Goals:
To explore mixed-media jewellery-making techniques and turn old jewellery and found objects into a unique necklace. Learn how to craft jewellery that reflects individual narratives, using textures, materials, and composition to convey meaning. To challenge traditional jewellery concepts by embracing unconventional materials and innovative approaches to design.

What teaching methods will the tutor use?
The tutor will use a range of teaching methods during the session which could include the following: Demonstration - both group and individual, discussion/question and answer.

What do I need to bring to the first class?
If you have specific project to discuss then bring it with you and include any objects/images that inspire you, including any bits of old jewellery or small to medium objects you might wish to use in the workshop.

Options when finished
The department offers a wide variety of design, media, music and food courses at different levels. Information about these courses is available through the tutor, the curriculum leader or the ALL programme.

Additional information
The tutor will contact you by email before the course begins, so please ensure we have your correct details. This is a practical class so please wear suitable clothing including enclosed footwear. You will not be given access to the workshop if you arrive wearing open shoes. ALL cannot be held responsible for any items including work, materials and tools left by the learner in our workrooms. Please leave the space clean and tidy. Any drinks taken into this space must be kept in a reusable lidded cup or bottle.
