Printing - monotype

Experiment with monotype printing in this five-week course run by artist Sarah Gursoy-Heuser. A monotype is a painting or drawing on a blank plate which you then transfer to a piece of paper using pressure to create a unique art work. Sarah Gursoy-Heuser will demonstrate different techniques and use a variety of materials and tools to help you explore direct line and painterly monotype printing. You'll experiment with ink mixing, rollout, additive and reductive printing, using stencils, working with the 'ghost' image, trace monotype, mark making and layering of colour. As a group, you'll also look at monotype's place in art history.
