Cardboard printing - FREE taster

The idea of printing with cardboard may bring back childhood memories, but it's a technique that offers tremendous scope for experimentation. This method of printmaking involves combining various textured layers to create an image. In this free taster class, you'll have a chance to revive your childlike curiosity and make creative prints using this simple technique. You'll find you can achieve more than you might have imagined.

What prior knowledge, experience and qualifications will I need?
No prior knowledge or experience is necessary, but a basic level of English, maths and computer skills would be useful.

Learning Goals:
Use found materials. Make a print from cardboard. Create textures, lines and effects. Identify and achieve a personal goal as discussed with your tutor.

What teaching methods will the tutor use?
The tutor will use a range of teaching methods during the class, including demonstration, one to one tuition, group work, observation, discussion and question and answer sessions.

What assessment methods will the tutor use?
The course tutor will use a range of methods to assess your progress during the session. These may include observation, evaluation of work samples, question and answer sessions and photographs of projects to record your achievements in our virtual learning environment (VLE).

Will extra work be required outside the class times?
This is a short taster class and does not require any additional work.

What materials will I need for the course and how much will they cost?
Materials will be provided for this session.

What do I need to bring to the first class?
Please wear suitable clothing including enclosed footwear, and don't forget to bring an apron.

The department offers a wide variety of design, media, music and food courses at different levels. Information about these courses is available through the tutor, the curriculum leader or the ALL programme.

ALL cannot be held responsible for any items including work, materials and tools left by the learner in our workrooms. Please leave the space clean and tidy. Any drinks taken into this space must be kept in a reusable lidded cup or bottle.
