Explore the basics of drawing and painting in this free two-hour taster session at the Brockley Rise Centre. Our expert tutor will guide you through some simple techniques and activities while answering any questions you may have about our longer daytime classes. All levels of experience are welcome.

What prior knowledge, experience and qualifications will I need?
No prior knowledge or experience is required to enrol in this class.

Learning Goals:
Try out different life drawing techniques. Explore different painting and drawing materials. Produce a minimum of one piece. Identify and achieve a personal goal as discussed with your tutor.

What teaching methods will the tutor use?
The tutor will use a range of teaching methods during the class, including demonstration, one to one tuition, group work, observation, discussion and question and answer sessions.

What assessment methods will the tutor use?
The tutor will use a range of methods to assess your progress during the class. These may include observation, evaluation of your work and a question and answer session.

Will extra work be required outside the class times?
This is a short taster class and does not require any additional work.

What materials will I need for the course and how much will they cost?
Please do not purchase anything before the session unless requested to do so. No liability can be accepted for expenses incurred for a class cancelled or altered at short notice.

What do I need to bring to the first class?
You don't need to bring anything to this short taster session. This is a practical subject, so please wear suitable clothing.

Options when finished
The tutor will discuss further options as part of the session. The department offers a wide variety of art, pottery and performing arts courses. Information about these courses is available through the tutor, the curriculum leader or the ALL programme.

Please note that ALL cannot be held responsible for any items including work, materials and tools left by the learner in our workrooms. Learners are expected to remove items at the end of the session.
